BIG BOOTS.

MICRO SCHOOL SKIRT - WHO’S FAULT IS IT?

The up and coming generations are in need of some bigger boots to fill. As soon as they have double digits to their age, immediate progress has undertaken, and finally they are pronounced teenagers. Only a decade has passed since their joyful births’ and already they’re pondering amongst high heels and skin tight dresses. No more games of hide and seek but the odd bit of truth or dare wouldn’t hurt, Barbie dolls are tossed into the trash and it’s now time for them to play dress up…

Yesterday, while browsing through ‘The Sun’ I came across an article about ‘Tesco’ selling ‘micro school skirts for girls of 9’. Basically, parents had been outraged about a school skirt that came over as provocative and supposedly sexy. The Hitch and Stitch is only 29.5cm long, shorter than my school ruler, which is a bit of an abomination. As the name suggests, the hemline had been hitched up to give the skirt a bit of a fashionable structure and because of this Tesco was immediately slammed;

Although, what I want to say on this subject is, why has Tesco decided to create a skirt like this for school? Obviously they had reason for making such a skirt, and didn’t just pluck the idea from the sky. I’m sorry to say, but girls of the age of nine are appealed to such skirts, and Tesco must’ve looked into this to make their profit.
Girls of this age group want to look like their older peers that adorn jeggings and crop tops and body-cons, this is exactly what they look up to, whether their parents like it or not. Also, what bothers me is the fact that if the dress was sold for anything else, like a social event, I don’t think a popularity of mothers would even think twice before buying their daughter something like this. I have seen many a times while walking through time, girls of the age of five wearing things for example like jeggings, and gladiator sandals, that totally resembles the looks of an eighteen year old.

The Sun then goes onto compare the skirt to a ‘modest… Sainsbury’s Skirt’ and a ‘Sensible… Asda’s Skirt’. I’m trying to contemplate back to when I was nine, and wondered which dress I would choose out of the three, and I think it would certainly be Tesco’s. To be honest, most girls do wear tights with the skirt, so not pairing the tights with it does make the child seem bare, but that could always be adjusted. Jane Hamilton – The Sun’s Consumer Editor – compares it to another product that was also the slammed, Primark’s padded bikinis for seven year olds, which is also ridiculous, but seven year olds shouldn’t even have bikinis!

Referring back to what I said in the introduction, some children of the up and coming generations are growing older way too quickly, and possibly do need to be taken down a peg or two.

What I think mothers’ should do is ask: why Tesco might’ve sold a skirt like that, before going on to accuse them.
Nine year olds are acting line nine-teen year olds and prefer to wear something cool rather than modest. They want to be responsible and considered an adult before they can even spell the word adolescent.

Don’t get me wrong, Tesco should also think about the parents who are buying their products and whether they think they are appropriate for their children, but also, I think media and reality really should categorize the audience a bit more and show distinctively whether that top should be for a nine year old, or for a nineteen year old.
To read the article and view the skirts, head to: The Sun
Thank you for reading, I'd like to hear your comments on this also

Hello...Goodmorning, Lets rock.

Hey-ho! to everyone out there. It's possibly been more than 2months since I've written on this blog; Though it had it's benefits, which was that I rested from racking my weak wordless brain, begging it to give me something sufficient for your new readers. But thankfully I have had an epiphany!
My determination for this blog is struggling so from now on, blogs will only come in once a month, or if your lucky two or three times if I can set my mind to something interesting. I think this will make my blog more off a success if I don't just ramble on, nothings good about rambling from where I'm concerned. Please don't feel disuaded about visiting my blog, some good upcoming reads are coming your way my darlings. J'aime x

Music Videos have been deprived of Sexually Action,
now its time to roll them in...

Typically every summer, music videos become more seductive basically because hot weather has aroused and now its time to become the slut you can't be in the winter - skimpy clothing.
Bikinis, shorts, skirts become the regular on every street, and okay you'll expect that, but music videos take it to another level.

  1. Te Amo - was the first video I'd seen that had so much sexual content involved that I was like wow, and don't get this wrong but woman on woman action is a little bit more seductive and disapproved upon when kiddiewinks are around, so I've been guessing that some music video producers need something more creative in their creations.
  2. Notoriously, we know Gaga as one of those that like to jump off the edge with her videos, and not just to dip the toe, we know she goes FULL THROTTLE. ALEJANDRO. is what I call innocent porn. I actually feel embaressed when I get caught watching half naked people grind on some skeleton, ghostly like bed. Handcuffs aswell!! The odds moans at the start. Gaaagaaa.
  3. Ciara's Ride It. I don't think anyone could get this connatation wrong; It's probably not the most exposed video, but we know CeeCee loves her legs and to move with them, so why not wear a fur coat and a swimsuit that only partially covers the groin. I saw too much pelvis hahahaa. And theres her with Ludacris sexily chewing on her gum. Please...
But yes, I believe a new type of video has evolved, with plenty of sex. Although I do argue that it is creative, and maybe I was being stereotypical about Te Amo, I'm not homophobic, so maybe music is a way to promote same sex relationships as a good thing and not have the negative sprawled all over it.
Thinking now, I actually applaud Rihanna, Gaga, and Ciara, they're taking things a step further, and experimenting with what they have. Paparazzi are doing the same thing right? following down the beaches and whatnot.
Britain and America and Canada are especially not as open as Europe when it comes to sex, they put labels on people that are not orbiting inside the regular. Diversity is the right thing, we can't just have innocent Justin Beiber rocking his fully clothed body, jokes. I love Beiber.

what do you guys think, were music videos sexually deprived?

Copy...right? (Times Two)

A few weeks ago, possibly more, I wrote a post about a British teen - Reece - rapping to a tune that was quite familiar. Only a few weeks ago being previously sung by Jason Derulo; (''Whatcha Say'').
Innocently, I quite enjoyed Derulo's version, without the knowledge that he had also basically ripped off the song. I was sort of angry and ashamed at the same time;
  1. I was very passionate about the matter only concerning Derulo and Reece, and personally I thought I was onto something here, with a good counter argument to bring up
  2. I hadn't done the proper research about the song, which in a way made me look like a real fool to passers by and followers (that will teach me a lesson )
Firstly, I must apologise to all the Imogen Heap fans who must have seen my blog and totally withdrew from it, I'd agreeable do the same. After being notified by the lovely English Rose I went off to listen to the song ''Hide and Seek'', which admittedly is not the most influential type of music in today's modern society. On the contrary, I actually quite liked the song and it's slow fluidity. It mesmerized me about Bon Iver's slow steady songs that I listen to occasionally to calm myself down.

Although you might not agree - Imogen Heap fans - since I havent heard any other Heap songs, but I see her music as ''vulnerable''. Typically because it is not mainstream; Personally, if I'd never written the previous post about Derulo, I probably would never hear of Imogen Heap, which is in a way, quite upsetting.

Okay, so I've just contemplated this fact: Derulo has, in someway allowed people to acknowledge Imogen Heap; Do you agree or not? This has allowed people like myself, who consistently think popular music is original, because it is the first time they've heard it. Logically, wouldn't Derulo's label or company have to ask permission to steal those lines from the song? From what I have heard, there is no difference in how those few lines sound. Imogen Heap must have accepted I guess, which might bring her more popularity.
Ahh, this is a very sensitive subject that I don't have much knowledge about, but I am so passionate about. I must end on this tone:

I think, bar what I have said above, (there could be truth in that also) that Derulo and his label may have seen Heap's song as vulnerable and without hesitating, pounced onto the song and made it their own. Before Derulo came onto the British scene, I wish I had heard British Native Heap's song, before being manipulated into believing Jason Derulo was the original, and then furthermore accusing Reece of copying the song.
I am sure there are many still out there who appreciate Derulo's version without knowing it's origins.

This has cleverly taught me to research into things thoroughly before writing about something as sensitive and as arguable as this. I hope that you guy now find this post a lot more agreeable, because I certainly made a big mistake. But I suppose that's what you have to go through to learn. As they say, you learn something everyday.
Enjoy.

RECENT TRENDS

Discovered Denim

From such bad experiences, you'd think denim be consulted with the seaside; but this spring/summer has introduced it as a long lost friend with not only jeans being favoured. Jackets, shirts, dresses and ju
mpsuits (known to myself as dungarees) are being hoarded onto our local High Streets like there's no tomorrow. Moreover there is no stopping enthusiastic, pretentious customers that are happy to add a more diverse piece to their denim collections.

I personally credit Chloé with their models dominating the runway with their patchwork jeans and shirts in all one outfit. However, double denim? I'm thinking 70's here, where supposedly hip dressers skirted the streets with their bell bottom jeans and long sleeved jackets. We all know fashion is a cycle but they've madeDDenim look fresher than the fruit on the M&S advert, as if the trend was never seen before.

Typically - in the 70s - if you had patchwork embossed cleverly into your jackets by your mom, it was possibly because you had a widening hole! Now designers and fashionistas D.I.Y have taken this on board, gathering washed out and lined denim, and intentionally incorporated onto their jackets. Crazily, I'm contemplating my ridiculous style history, where my mom dressed myself and my sister exactly the same! Thankfully, after mooching through my photos I found a hype-worthy denim galore: DUNGAREES!

A baggy denim croth held up by a square-like top. I had the one with the kangaroo pouch. Anyhow, that was a very long time ago, but only today did I see them hung up on Urban Outfitter's rack. I was so in awe that I looked at every single pair, even though some of them were exactly the same as the previous. It really just mesmerized me and now I'm on the hunt for a pair. But let my not forget my skirted dungarees, its quite short and I'm not that keen on it, but its just so memoriable that I had to keep it. For keep-sack, I'll keep it, though I'll never wear it!

The common material is once again an appreciated piece in our thought out outfits. Whether its a skirt, shirt, dress, bustier (yep they have them around) , jackets and whatever you can think of.

High Street: Pickup the Denim : Topshop always have some great pieces; Newlook should be a store to hit, their denim jackets are fabulous; Republic have great hareems; A/wear have a great copy of Chloé's patchwork jeans.

Hello stranger.

Darlings. Lets start positive, and not take note of my negligence! Though it has been consistently pouring down with rain for a week, lets just hope and pray that we have an excellent summer. British summer may not be that reliable, but lets just remember how the lost boys believed in fairies, and Tinkerbell arrived. So relate that to the weather, and believe in a 2010 British Summer.

But what makes a better Summer? Fashionable people. Sincerely, we don't really need the sun, when we have bright, kaleidoscope colours walking everywhere. Personally, I don't really mind wearing my gladiators with a pair of knee high socks. SOCKY SANDALS, and trawl around like a stereotypical American on Vacation.
Floral, Denim and Print are the highlights of fashion at the moment, with Basso&Brooke taking centre stage with print pandemonium.

Denim I am totally looking forward to. I could imagine rolled up jeans with pair of loafers or smart brogues, paired with a generously louse amount of cardigan, and a beautiful blouse!

I must finally thankyou guys for keeping up with me, and taking there own time to just pop up on my blog. I honestly do check my blog everyday for all your comments, I'm just so sorry I haven't replied to them, but thankyou for sticking with me.

J'aime loves you. + Mr Love-ah-Love-ah

Woo. Summer 2010 is nearing.

The weather reports are now regularly using the word 'Spring' in possibly every news cast. Which excites me terribly. I love Spring and Summer. 2 out of the 4 best seasons of the year.
Popping up once in a while is the Sun. You actually don't know how much I love the Sun. It turns my hair brown -which is a good'un - and gives me a nice richer skin colour. Isn't anyone else excited about the Sun, and it's shine?

I have no idea what I'm getting up to over the Summer Holidays. Don't get me wrong, I'm not wishing time away, but I just can't wait to stroll across the Trent bridge, spying the mucky cows, and cute ducks and ducklings. It seriously takes my breathe ways.

There is something so relaxing about Frenchie music. I'm listening to one of their radio stations now, and I dream about cycling through Paris'es cobbled streets. Or maybe somewhere quieter, Possibly Toulouse. Where I can leave my bicycle outside, and skip into the bakery, then leaving with a batch of the finest french biscuits. I think that's what's possibly getting me in the mood for summer.

I'm just rabbling here. Since I've been neglecting the blog, I thought I could just top it up, with a few of my feelings and ramblings.
This time I have been busy! Studying newspapers, so that I understand the whole story, instead of just skimming them. This consists of highlighting particular words, and circling around more important words with a red-pen. It may sound like not a lot of fun, but I am so interested in journalism, that you cannot dissuade me.

Right now, I'm pushing away an A-Level Business Studies book. Since I'm doing BusStud at GCSEs, I thought I'd get a real big headstart, but at the moment, I'm trying to pick out some French words I know from the radio. I got the word 'journal' and 'premier' which means 'newspaper' and 'first'. Great!

I love French, it is such a fascinating language. How it is so different from 'simple' English, even though English is sometimes a lot harder for those studying it, rather than learning it. But with Francais, there's genders to consider, and accents, and past participles and getting the words in the right order. It is a lot of work, but then Chinese Mandarin is harder, so I will not moan!

I love saying long sentences in French that I just thought of. A recent one is: Ma Mére est jolié et grand comme un manniquin!
My mother is pretty and tall like a model.
My mother isn't tall, but I say shes pretty! Love my mummy.
Okay then, ramble terminated.

I'm so happy I've just skipped to models.com today, where these phenominal pictures of Viktor&Rolf's F/W 10. This is quick post!

Guess what I've got for my options. All that I asked for. French, Business Studies Art and History (Nazi Germany)! Woo.

Copy...right?

Thank you so much for your comments. It is true that blogging shouldn't be a chore, and I have taken that on bored. Only when I am passionate will I write.

Okay, so possibly a week ago, when flicking through channels, I stumbled upon a song, that sounded very familiar, only to be sung by amateaur, or what I'd like to call a 'wannabee'!
So, I hope you are all acquainted with Jason Derulo and his first hit 'Whatcha say', because this is the main subject. This single came out at the very end of 2009, and to be honest with myself, it isn't the best song I have heard.
But then say, three quick months later, a nobody called Reese comes along and does the same song, with the same introduction, instead he raps with different lyrics.
I don't know why, but this really outraged me. Jason Derulo's second song has only really come out, and here is this 'wannabee' stealing a song and making it his own.

Okay, so many artists have done this... remaking a song that has been out there before, and with some of them I am extremely not happy.
But what I think is... quote from Tyra on ANTM... 'If your going to copy somebody, make sure you own it!'. And this boy Reece has definitely not OWNED it in my opinion.

I think it's quite pathetic. If I was a new solo artist, breaking into the scene, I'd show my talent with a song of my own, a song people can remember ME for. I think the consequences are that people will only know Reece's song as a copy of Jason Derulo's, no one will ever identify that song without thinking of a totally different person. Will they or will they not?

I also think this is copyright from poor Jason Derulo, who too is new on the scene. It was his first ever song... well for British viewers and I think in a way Reece has taken the limelight with this song, even though personally it is not that good, and I don't think many will favour it over Jason's version anyway.

  1. Jason Derulo's Version is set in a vast corridor, and on an outside stair way. He presents it with good acting skills, and it is a typical American video, with a well thought out scene and layout. Derulo dances as well as sings and acts, why not call it a musical? His name is also screened on the TV. A skilled producer and director is obviously at hand. And the song has a understanding story behind it, represented by the characters included in some of the scenes. Yes, in Derulo's version, there is more than one scene.
  2. Reece's Version set outside, with three big 4x4 cars, that have personalised plates. Something else to tick me off, at the start, the introduction he stole says Jason Derulo's name. Reece calls it a remix, which I am happy with, but dang, Jason hasn't even warmed up yet, and someone goes and steals his song. Not much movement, just a few swaggs, and swipes of the arm...wheres the fly? No other scene I'm presuming. Some good lyrics, but I see not other characters representing the story. Or maybe he's talking about the dominant cars. Seems like this guys doing a commercial for Nike shoes. He attempts the 'watcha say' repetitive bit, but I'm getting bored, and a little annoyed. Okay, if you need anymore evidence, the links below.
I've critiqued many British music videos, because they cannot actually compare with any of the American ones. Americans have other characters for their video, they actually have a sort of short movie to go with the song. Whereas, the British tend to just have the group or solo act in one scene, giving a few moves, and swiping at the camera. (N-dubz!).
There is an exception though, I am not all that negative. But the up rise of JLS is going excellent. Their song: 'Every body in Love' is a lot more similar to a video the Americans would've created, and I am very proud of them. (Alexandra Burke...Who is she?).
As well as Jay Sean, I hope everybody has heard of that guy, he is brilliant! He did a K.O. on America!

Please don't get me wrong, I am not slaughtering Britain, and neither am I slaughtering any other country. Just the two people I'm comparing happen to be in different countries where sometimes they can produce better music videos.

What are your thoughts on the versions of 'Whatcha say'?
Do you think I'm being tough? Do you think that it's just the natural cycle of Music artists?
What do you think of this whole situation? because I'd love to know what you think about it.
Whether you agree, disagree, or suggest another opinion.

J'aimeJ'adore darlings.

Lazy.

Fellow Bloggers,

You may have acknowledged that I have been a little 'lazy' at keeping up with this blog, and to make amends, I am dearly sorry. I cannot say that I've been busy, because unfortunately I havent, I just consume my time with television and facebook, which quite frankly, and honestly is sometimes a waste of time. What makes it even worse is, that I havent read a book in ages, and that is shameful for someone like myself, who always has her head in a book.

At the start of this week, I checked my e-mail, and to justify that I've been away so long were 18 messages! my google mail had been made whilst starting this blog, and considering, that isn't a very long time. The only messages I get are from Teen Vogue, and notifications of what I've subscribed to.

Well, I wasn't going to stay on there long, when I saw an e-mail from a woman called Radhika, that was involved in the website 'Be In Style' - if you want to visit this website, there is an icon to the right - and she wanted me to be included on their blog roll. I was so dumbstruck, because this means that a few people have recognised and enjoyed my ordinary, blah-blah-blah blog. This made me feel really ashamed about my laziness, because some are going out of their way to get me out there to more readers, and all I'm doing is posting a couple of paragraphs about the odd thing or too. Now don't contradict me and say 'no you havent, j'aime', because I know what I have been doing.

Fortunately for me, I did not slack long enough to miss a good chance like this. Another e-mail goes by, from Rachel, a co-designer of Style Stalker. She noted that she enjoyed reading my blog, and wants me to be one of the first to view one of their videos, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Sue-ann and Rachel have brilliant designs, that are clevery crafted and luscious to the eye. From creams to blacks, blues to reds, with the most vibrant and enthusiastic model you could ever imagine!
There are many things that I appreciate about this Design house, but I must point out two things: 1. As you already know, their name is Style Stalker, the concept of this name is brilliant, because it's not gloating about general fashion, it speaks of individual style, which I think is great!
2. They have very affordable prices, that doesn't push limits, offering you the best quality you can afford!

Make sure you check out their blog, and clothes site:

So, though I've been overly lazy, I think waiting just a little bit, has produced the best post, since the 21 questions. I enjoy talking about other people's success, it makes me feel all warm inside. Anyhow, I must be off, I have to check all your blogs!

The Hairstyle of the Minute.

Think of the mohawk. Then padd hair on one side. Any side and there you have it. The half shaven mohawk.
Or
Think of the mohawk again, then adjust it with one big poney tail and a decorative fringe!
Add colour, and spoonful of highlights.
There you have it, the hairstyle of the minute. To some, this hairstyle is extreme, but it seems to be taking over every fashion-able head.

Lets name a few:

  • Rihanna
  • Cassie
  • Alice Dellal

I have to say my least favourite person to adorn this hairstyle is: Cassie.
Let me clarify. I personally feel that she has shaven off too much of her hair, and it makes her look semi-bald. Don't get me wrong, but the whole idea of the half-shaven look is too look shaven, not bald, and I feel that Cassie's style is basically bald.

Where as, Alice Dellal and Rihanna, have kept the back, so as to not don the bald look. May I just note, that I couldn't get hold of any recent photograph of Rihanna blond with better viewing, so I ''borrowed'' the second photograph from a friend, that coincidently, has the shaven look!

Everybody Meet Lois!

To just rub it in, Lois, was the first person that I had ever seen with this particular hairstyle. Which initially I thought was quite extreme. But to see how quickly myself and others got hooked to this original hairstyle amazes me.
Its dramatic, and modern and great for people whose hair breaks everytime it's growing. i.e moi. But don't go off track, its also quite popular among longer haired beings.

Remember the scraped back look, well this is a new fresher, easier version. No gel or moose added. Just a pair of clippers. (okay, shaver - sounds better with clippers!)

But please darlings, the only reason for submitting these blogs is to get some replies. So I want to hear you opinions on this particular hairstyle, whether good or bad, I want to hear it.

Well thankyou.
This is basically my come-back post.

The Hooligan of English Fashion

Dearest Confidante,

Alexander McQueen has past away. At 40! Misery has swept upon me, and I'm bug eyed over my scrapbook with him and his creations sprawled on top.
Bright colours, sucker for his shoes and his big red lipped models. Such structure and collection and originality.
The best Fashion Maestro!
Why do people die? Good people?

Some words directed to him and his fashion:

'Fashion Visionary'
'Fairy tales'
'Tree Nymphs'
'Quality'

I wasn't even meant to do blogger today, but this is an official outcry! He is amazing!
Designer of the Year 4 times. I'm devasted. Being notified by a facebook friend was horrible, I had to quickly pounce on google to see if it was true.

Jeezy! First MJ now A.McQ!
Between him and Viv Westie, they both define British Fashion.

King and Queen of British Fashion.
But now the Queen is lost!

Guess Who's Back?

Dearest Confidants,

I dearly apologise for leaving you with many questionnaires! But I have to admit, you sure did like it. J'aime is back everybody, first personal post for the New Year. As well as that fact that my New Years Reso. is proving very hard. Let me refresh your memory about My Year of Elegance. For after a few days, I had to take a break. Its so hard to be prim and proper!
But one thing good that squeezed through my Primness, if my writing. Jeez, I'm finding new words everyday. I've also started a Journal, do not mistake this for Diary.

Reasons for not having Diaries:

1. I cannot dedicate myself to a daily diary
2. Diaries are time consuming, especially when you're supposed to write in it at the end of the day, and I for one surely need my Sleep.
3. I've wasted my money over the years, buying dairies that only get filled for about a week.
4. I have no resembelence to Bridget Jones.

The journal is sort of like this blog, so I will be posting some of the journal onto here, basically because I cannot be bothered to write something up without taking time to think about it, and deary me, this blog takes time!
Lets start with the 6th of Feb,2010.

February,6,2010
[I am not American, but somehow I prefer to write it like this]

Dearest Confidante,
Apologises for not continuing with yesterday's account (I started writing one before, but I was more interested in Take Me Out). I unfortunately lost enthusiasm to such a good subject. Though, never mind [chummy]. I have to say that if I lose enthusiam, never mind how big a subject, I refure to carry on. I suppose I'm quite stubborn in that respect, but no time to clarify, and beat around the bush. What Has Hooked me today?

*Newspapers
*News BBC

Recently, I've had a particular thriving obsession with newspapers and New Broadcastings -BBC News. As an intellectual being, I prefer quite an educated read. This consists of broadsheets named: The Guardian, The Times, The Observer and possibly The Independent. I tend to snub my nose at any gossiping tabloids.
However, lets not procede into that debate. This afternoon I aqainted myself with the Guardian.

>MP Expenses
>John Terry
>BAE
>Toyota
>Tory Party
>Climate Change

Seemed to hold the columns. In spite of the fact that these people or things are not the most popular at the moment, the read was very interesting.
Dearest Confidante, you may not know me well, but one fact I ensure you must know is that I have a deep affection for reading. From fictional to factual. Interesting gossip to hearbreakingly rare stories. I should point out that I am very selective, but I do vary in genre.
Anyhow, I still enjoyed and merely devoured my favoured broadsheet.
Secondly, my favourite TV News Broadcast, otherwise known as the BBC. This abbreviation stands for: British Broadcasting Corporatiion. As I've mentioned before, intelligent products appeal to me. I find BBC news very intellectual. GMTV and ITV news cannot compare.
They are too tak-a-tive. As well as the fact that they involve celebrities a lot. My preferance is forever with BBC news.

From now on, I'll adapt myself from watching the Simpsons and Hollyoads through the hour of six and instead watch BBc news.
Did I mention I want to be a journalist? For maybe a Newspaper like The Times or the Guardian or the Observer.

Or my very own (last minute made Newspaper): The Educator!

Yours,
Darling Writer.

Hope you enjoyed that. Bahh.

J'aime

with lots of Mr Love-ah-Love-ah.

21 Questions: Chloe

The last of the 21 Questions. And we end with Chloe. The youngest blogger to experience my curiousness, and well, she probably owned it, with her big words...and stuff! Once you've read this, you'll know she has a brilliant fashion background, and an amazing fashion sense. This busy bee has a love able, excellent, that I am happy to publicise. As with all the rest.

I leave you with the final note, that I hope you enjoyed all of the cool bloggers that I've presented, and their answers. Hopefully, I'll do it again, in about six months, because it's an really good time-saver, I'd advise it. But, personally, meeting and getting to know my fellow bloggers is really interesting, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

  1. First things first: As a child what did you enjoy? Movies, toys, games, what were your favourites? Do you feel that these particular things made you what you are now?

To be totally honest, I still see myself as a child as I’m only thirteen years old! I think that above all, I love reading. I love discovering new books and being able to fully immerse myself into a good book, one which allows me to think and feel all sorts of emotions that I would not experience otherwise. I also love listening to music; both mainstream and little unknown singers and indie bands. I love the greats, the new, and the old; Van Morrison is probably my favourite though.

However, when I was little, I suppose I always loved playing libraries and shops but I guess that I grew up very, very quickly. I’ve matured loads in the last few years and I think that this has definitely shaped me into who I am, because I never really had much of an interest in toys or games, and if I did, I can’t really recall any. Nevertheless, I’m a thirteen year old and still growing up so there’s still time to see where I end up!

  1. Is there anything that you remembered from childhood, which was maybe your first flash of fashion?

My mum told me that when I was little and people came round to our house, I would always walk round trying on their shoes, playing dress up with clothes which were ten sizes too big and smearing (thus, destroying) my mum’s Lancome and Dior lipsticks (sorry, Mum!). That’s probably my first flash of fashion... Another notable memory was a small Versace dress that my mum picked up from Bicester Village in the sale; that was probably my first designer piece and it was quite hideous, if I’m being honest! These are very small glimpses, but still my very first flashes of fashion – they’re more comical than fashion-savvy but I’ll just go with it, haha.

  1. Is there anyone you look up to as a style icon?

I’ve already mentioned my mum in the previous question and I think that she is, above all, my style icon. She is the person of whom I have inherited many designer items as well as given me advice and told me what looks good or not. She has a very classic sense of fashion and knows what suits me or not. I like to hope I’ve inherited her sense of style and I’m really grateful for her good sense of style!

In terms of famous fashionistas, I guess Alexa Chung comes high up on most people’s lists, but I do like her kooky sense of fashion which she toughens up with hard, vintage boots and the like. I really like Diane Kruger’s taste in beautiful dresses and Rachel Bilson who, time after time, dresses wonderfully and classically. Also Emma Watson’s simplistic chic, not to mention being the face of Burberry and being such a classy young woman who I really look up to. All these women have a well-honed style and beauty about them which I adore. For tougher women with a more punk rock feel, I have to hand it to Mischa Barton and MK&A Olsen for working the eclectic and quirky look. A few other notable mentions should go to Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, Keira Knightley, Rachel McAdams, Blake Lively, Zooey Deschanel, Leighton Meester, Taylor Momsen, Kirsten Dunst... The list really does go on and on and on! They’re all so fantastic at making their look their own.

  1. Is there anything that you truly hated as children but adore now? (style/fashion wise)

I don’t really know if there is anything that I truly hated but now adore. I guess I used to dislike leather jackets because I just didn’t like them, I have no idea why. I didn’t really have much of a liking for peep toe shoes either but now, being someone who has seen the light and now the owner of a beautiful pair of Kurt Geiger peep toes, my opinion has changed drastically!

One thing which I have never liked and probably never will are wedge shoes; I just find them so bulky and ugly! I also don’t like flared jeans, they’re not flattering at all. That’s pretty much it!

  1. What first inspired you to blog? Did you think and organise what your were going to put or did you just DIG IN? (If you did organise, what research did you do?)

I didn’t so much do any research or anything like that. I had been looking on sites like Lookbook and visiting many other blogs prior to the start of my own blog. I just really liked looking at all the creativity that these blogs and looks emitted, each style individual to each person. However, I have many different interests so I decided to create a blog which covered every aspect of my life, not just fashion. I have had a good response and I just love posting about what’s going on in my day-to-day life and it allows me to write about what I know. It’s always such a huge compliment to see someone commenting on my blog and just knowing that people read it is hugely flattering! I started my blog towards the end of Summer 2009, and although I do find it hard to keep up with regular posts, I try really hard and love hearing feedback!

  1. On a scale of 1 to 10, how much does fashion mean to you?

To be quite honest, fashion doesn’t mean so much to me. I mean, I like looking nice and absolutely love love love shopping but it’s definitely not the most important thing in my life. I could never be a fashion designer or work in the fashion industry because even though it’s a great thing in my life, it’s more of a hobby. It’s more of a fashion to myself, how I present myself – rather than the whole fashion industry because I’m not the type to critically analyse a designer’s collection and pretend I know what’s going on because I don’t, haha. I guess a 7 because I like fashion and I like it when things look nice and when particular trends or pieces grab my attention, I hone onto that by researching or looking at magazines to improve my fashion knowledge.
  1. Do you take yourself as a follower of trends, or more of an atheist to the fashion religion?

A bit of both, but mostly to being ‘an atheist to the fashion religion’ (I really like that phrase, by the way!) because, of course, it’s almost impossible to NOT be a follower of the trends. But mostly, no because I’ve been told that I dress very maturely for my age as I’m more into nice blouses, silk, nice trousers, smart shoes and an innumerable number of blazers!

  1. What would you say was your signature piece? What do you wear practically all the time?

I’m not really sure, to be honest! I love tucking shirts in, I can’t help it! I have naturally short legs, which isn’t great with my already petite frame of 5’3”, so by tucking shirts and tops into jeans, shorts and skirts, this accentuates my legs to give the illusion that they’re longer! I have also worn my DKNY black skinny jeans a countless number of times, never seen without a nice leather belt (I have two main ones that I always wear, a Moschino vintage one and a brown leather one bought in Italy!). I also never ever change my earrings and I only ever wear my pearl earrings, very run-of-the-mill, I know but I just love the look of them and when I wear my Hermes silk scarf with it, I look quite demure and I love that!

  1. If you won 5,000 $/£/€, what particular pieces would you spend it on?

If I were to win £5,000, I think it would only be right for me to buy a beautiful bag, or more than one! I have a weakness for great bags and there are quite a few which spring to mind. I really like Mulberry bags and would love an Oak Coloured Mulberry Bayswater bag. I also love Louis Vuitton and Gucci so I would definitely hope to acquire perhaps a Gucci holdall bag and a monograph LV? I sound so spoilt but I absolutely love bags! If I had enough money left over, an Hermes Birkin would be out of this world! Or a YSL Muse bag?! My, my, I never knew how much I loved bags, haha. I would also buy clothes, obviously, perhaps a Stella McCartney blazer, Proenza Schouler dresses, Sonia Rykiel dress, a D&G dress, Malene Birger tops, Christopher Kane and Luella dresses... Then not forgetting high street, I would probably buy a nice FCUK dress, some Topshop tops, dresses and a hat, some jewellery and other lovely things from Urban Outfitters, a blazer and some high-waisted, skinny, wool trousers from Zara, some lovely tops or a merino wool jumper or cardigan from Gap, some nice pumps, loafers, ankle boots and knee high boots from Office or another shoe store, or even a vintage shop where they can be picked up for a fraction of a normal RRP. Then a few pairs of Ray Ban sunglasses and some nice shift dresses from various high street shops... Perhaps a cute owl necklace which I’ve been looking for, for ages might turn up and I think I’m good to go!

Haha, I think I’ve just about gone over my £5,000 but all of these things are so lovely! If anyone needs to Google them and see them in all their wonderful glory, please do, they’re all so beautiful to look at, especially the bags!!!

  1. If you could put yourself in any fashion category, what would you be? ( You can make one up)

I don’t know if I fit into one fashion category, I’m like a hybrid of a few. Fashion allows me to fit into many different categories, all at once. I am primarily one who adheres to the classic theme of nice fitted blazers, nicely fit skinny jeans or shorts, nice blouse, shirt or top and my Ray Ban Clubmasters for good measure. I guess that most of the time, I fit into the category of very prim and proper, tailored clothing. Other times, I like the sort of rock and roll feel with punky blacks thrown into the mix. So I’m really a hybrid of neutral, pastel-y colours mixed with tailored blazers and skinny jeans with beautiful jewellery and an element of black somewhere.

  1. What are your ambitions? Are you taking the path of fashion, or another but still staying stylish?

As mentioned in question six, I am not planning on a career in the fashion industry, due to it being such a fierce industry, like many, but also because of the hobby-like nature that I associate with fashion. I think that I want to become a stock trader or broker in an investment bank such as Morgan Stanley, as my aunty has this job in Japan and she gets quite a few opportunities to travel, etc. So I would definitely consider a job like this where pay is good, travel is good and I like maths and this seems like a good job for me. Long hours and hard work is required but I’m willing to take that on as it can only go up from here, I guess.

  1. If you could move to a fashion capital, which one would it be?

If I could move to a fashion capital, I guess it would have to be London with New York and Paris coming in a close second and third, respectively. I feel that the main factor of choosing somewhere to live would be that I am actually able to speak the language. I have yet to choose whether I’m taking Latin or French GCSE but as I hate French, Latin is looking like the more likely candidate, so my French is shaky, to say the least! Having just spent the last few days in London, I also feel that London is somewhere where everything happens, it’s such a busy city and there is always something going on! London is also home to brilliant stores, individual boutiques and markets; I’ve scored many bargains from Portobello Market, which I love! There’s nothing better than to peruse through the stores for ages and finding the perfect item!

  1. What is your best investment?

I have been extremely lucky in that I have inherited many designer pieces from my mum and various members of family. My Ray Ban Clubmasters sunglasses have been so great; they were quite expensive but a big present and instantly jazz up an outfit in the summer! I think they can make me look so effortlessly cool, and they’ve been a great investment. Other items include a recent Malene Birger blouse purchased for less than 75% of the RRP price, in a Selfridge’s sale. Other items which are noteworthy are DKNY skinny jeans and a Moschino belt – both of which have been staples in my wardrobe.

  1. Where do you see yourself in 10/15 years?

In 10/15 years, I will be 23/28 and at 23 years old, I aspire to be fresh from Oxford University. I have huge aspirations to attend Christ Church College, Oxford University; these goals are stemming from when I was eight years old, due to extended family having attended the same college at Oxford. Academics are hugely important to me so that’s why I so desperately feel like Oxford would be a great place to cater for those needs. In fifteen years time, when I’m 28, I feel like London is the greatest place for me to live. After having spent the last few days there, I really love the whole atmosphere and the fact that the city is always there. I like the idea of a fast-track life, with no limitations to what you can do or where you can go.

  1. If you could ask a popular designer 1 question, who would it be, and what would it be?If I could ask any popular designer a question, I think I would have to ask Stella McCartney where she gets her inspiration from. I think that she is such an influential fashion designer and despite having such a famous father who she could’ve just sponged off for the rest of her life, she really made a name for herself. Her clothes are so classic but with a nice twist so that they’re still very contemporary and stylish/chic.

  1. What music do you listen to? Favourite song/singer at the moment?

Oh, how I love music! I listen to many different genres and it would be hard for me to pick just one favourite song or singer, of any time period. I mostly listen to blues, folk, soul, indie and some rock, but some new pop and r&b tracks do stick in my head and are really great to listen to when feeling upbeat. I like both old and new artists, ranging from Van Morrison to the Smiths, to Passion Pit, to James Morrison, to Bon Iver, to Regina Spektor, to Laura Marling.

I love listening to feel-good music and also songs with very low tones which express distress and anguish. Songs with good lyrics are a must too.

  1. If you could have another hairstyle, what would you pick? Maybe one that you like, but doesn’t suit you.

I used to have long hair and had been growing it for about two years and then I had it all chopped off to about shoulder length. Big change and I don’t think I liked it. I have really thick hair too so I had more subtle layers but I think that more choppy layers suits me more.

I’d really love to try out a long, choppy fringe, which would come just above the eyes. I don’t think this would suit me very much but that would be one for me to try!

  1. High street, designer or both?

BOTH! My clothes consist of both high street and designer, due to my mum’s penchant for designer bags and clothing. For high street, I like shopping in Gap, Urban Outfitters, Topshop, Zara, Office and the like. Not only that, but I like vintage clothes shopping by going to small boutiques and markets such as Portobello Market in London. I like doing this kind of shopping because you are able to find very individual pieces for a reasonable price.

For designer, I love Burberry, Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, Luella, Alexander Wang, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Chloe, Proenza Schouler, Chanel, Rodarte, Lanvin, Hermes, 3.1 Philip Lim, MaxMara, Moschino, Oscar de la Renta, Christopher Kane, Sonia Rykiel and so many more. I love admiring all of the items that these designers produce... Granted, I don’t own many designer items, most having been inherited from my mum but I do have my fair share with an LV bag, a Gucci messenger bag, Hermes silk scarf, Burberry duffle coat, Burberry scarf, Burberry blazer, DKNY jeans, Marc Jacobs blazer, MaxMara blazer, Ray Ban Clubmasters, Salvatore Ferragamo bag, Matthew Williamson bag, Costume National brogues, a Gucci watch and a few others.

  1. Minimalist or outrageous?

I have to admit that I’m not one to go completely crazy and be really outrageous in an outfit. I guessit’s the introvert in me! I like contemporary outfits with a subtle twist which can make it very whimsical, quirky and just pretty! I love nude colours and my outfits must always have an element of black; it’s such a classy colour and matures an outfit in the first instance. It’s gotta be minimalist.

For an outing, how do you organise what to wear?

I don’t really know! It depends on the occasion, whether it’s a formal event or I’m just hanging out with friends. But I guess that sometimes, an outfit just comes to mind straightaway so that it doesn’t really take much thinking at all. However, there have also been times where I’ve been sitting in front of the wardrobe and just thinking “I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAAAAAR!” You get the picture. In those particular scenarios, I just pull out everything and try different things on until I’m happy with the result; this can prove to be extra time-consuming. I guess it’s just luck as to whether an outfit springs to mind or not. Also, if I’ve bought something new, I always love the opportunity to wear it out so of course; new buys come first, alongside my staple favourites.

  1. And for your readers, what is your best fashion tip?

Terribly cliché but I would say, just dress for you. Don’t dress for anyone else, don’t try to be anyone else. Dress comfortably because I always think that comfort comes first, before anything else. If you aren’t at ease in your outfit, then that will show and that’s the worst thing that can happen. Size doesn’t matter that much either, as I am a proud size ten and it all depends on how you work with your figure to make yourself look the best that you possibly can. Not all of us are born as 5’10” beauties with legs as long as the eye can see and size four figures!

Work wonders with what you have and you will reap the benefits, no doubt about it!

Another little tip is that a little goes a long way; there is absolutely no need to wear a million trends all at once. Moderation is important and investing in a few staple items is always good as you can then put your own creative spin in an outfit with different accessories, bag, shoes, etc!
